Terms
Last updated: 10 October 2026
The short version: you can try KeyPop for free inside its own window. A licence lets you use it in every app on one PC, and each key can be activated once. Don't share or resell your key, and don't put KeyPop on someone's computer without their agreement.
1. Who these terms are between
These terms are an agreement between you and the maker of KeyPop ("we", "us"). By downloading or using KeyPop, or by buying a licence, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. What you get
- Without a licence, you may install KeyPop and try every sound inside the app's settings window, for as long as you like.
- With a licence, KeyPop plays its sounds in every app on your PC. A licence is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
One licence key activates KeyPop on one PC, and it can be activated only once. A key that has been activated cannot be activated again, moved to another PC, or reused after Windows is reinstalled. Activate it on the PC you intend to keep using, and keep that PC's KeyPop data in place; to use KeyPop on another PC you need another licence.
3. Your licence
When you buy a licence, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use KeyPop on one PC that you own or control. KeyPop is licensed to you, not sold; we keep all rights in the app that these terms do not give you.
You agree not to:
- share, publish, resell or give away your licence key;
- bypass, remove or tamper with the licence check;
- redistribute KeyPop, or sell it or its sounds as your own product;
- copy the sound files out of KeyPop to use them elsewhere, except as the sound's own licence allows (see section 6);
- use KeyPop in a way that breaks the law.
4. Use it considerately
KeyPop makes noise, and some of its sounds are meant as jokes. You are responsible for where and how you use it. Only install it on a computer that is yours or whose owner has agreed, and keep in mind that the people around you can hear it.
5. Licence checks
KeyPop confirms your licence over the internet when you activate it and about once a day after that. It keeps working for up to 14 days without a connection. If a purchase is charged back or reversed, or a key is found to be shared or resold, the key may be deactivated and KeyPop will return to its unlicensed state. What the app sends during these checks is described in our privacy page.
6. Sounds and third-party material
If you add your own audio files to KeyPop, they stay on your PC, and you are responsible for having the right to use them.
Most KeyPop sounds are generated by the app. Some use recordings shared by their authors under Creative Commons licences; these are listed, with their authors and licences, on the sound credits page and in the app's Credits menu. Those recordings remain under their original licences. This website also uses the open-source three.js library under the MIT licence.
7. Payment
Purchases are processed by Dodo Payments, which acts as the merchant of record: the sale is made by them, and their checkout terms apply to the payment. The price is the one shown at checkout, and taxes are added there where they apply. Your licence key is sent to the email address you give at checkout.
8. Refunds
Licences are non-refundable. Our refund policy is part of these terms.
9. Updates and availability
We may release updates that add, change or remove sounds and features. We aim to keep the licence service running, but we do not promise that KeyPop will be available or supported forever, or that it will work on every PC or with every app. KeyPop requires a 64-bit version of Windows 10 or 11.
10. No warranty
KeyPop is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be error-free, uninterrupted or fit for a particular purpose. Nothing in these terms removes rights that the consumer law of your country gives you and that cannot be excluded.
11. Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of KeyPop, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for your licence. This does not limit liability that cannot legally be limited.
12. Ending the licence
You can stop using KeyPop at any time by deleting it. If you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, we may end your licence and deactivate your key.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of your country, and state if relevant, and disputes will be handled by the courts there, unless the consumer law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your own country.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. Changes do not take away a licence you have already bought.
